This post will show you exactly how to make a delicious Pisces Cocktail using Gin, Liqueurs, and Herbal Oils!
This is the Pisces cocktail in the series of astrological cocktails for the year! When I was concocting ideas for this drink, I was aiming for something that tasted like Spring was on the horizon. I had the word “Petrichor” in mind. This word basically encompasses the smell of fresh rain on the hot earth. I’ve always found this smell so calming and relaxing. Honoring all of the water aspects of this sign, I wanted to capture the taste of a raindrop.
In this cocktail you will get notes of eucalyptus, aloe, mint, and fresh arugula. This cocktail is unique, easy to make, and so much fun to drink! Enjoy during Pisces season or any time of the year! Let’s get right into it!

What You Will Need
Alcohol:
The base for this unique cocktail will be Gin! I chose to use Sipsmith London Dry Gin. I knew that gin would really highlight the botanical notes that I wanted to bring to life in this cocktail. Sipsmith gin has been a favorite of mine recently. You get a wonderfully smooth finish that isn’t too overpowered by juniper. You of course get botanical notes and notes of fresh citrus! This gin is one of my favorites to use in a Negroni as well. If you want to stock up your home bar with a bottle check out your local Total Wine and More or Bev-Mo for an affordable bottle!
The next spirit we will be using for this Pisces cocktail is one of the most unique spirits I have had the privilege to try! We will be using Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto. This is a spirit made in Italy highlighting the essence of the Bergamot Orange. The Bergamot Orange is a part of the citrus family and is a close mix of a bitter orange and a lemon! This spirit also gives pleasant notes of flowers, grass, mint, zesty citrus peel, and more! Italicus plays wonderfully with the botanicals of the gin in this cocktail. I highly suggest you pick yourself up a bottle for your home bar and get to experimenting! I got my bottle at Total Wine and More!
Lastly, we will be using an extremely fresh, cooling, and flavorful liqueur to complete this cocktail! We will be using Chareau. This liqueur is so fragrant and complex. Chareau contains a mixture of aloe vera juice and fresh botanicals. The aloe gives this liqueur its cooling quality. The rest of the notes you receive are melons, mint, cucumber, and eucalyptus. I absolutely love this liqueur for this Pisces cocktail.
Not only will we be using it in the actual cocktail, we will also be spritzing the top of the cocktail with Chareau to truly utilize its freshness. I pour a little bit of Chareau into an Atomizer to spritz on top of this cocktail as a garnish! You can pick up a delicious bottle of Chareau at Total Wine and More!
Other Fresh Ingredients:
We will be garnishing this Pisces cocktail with a very important ingredient. Fresh Arugula Oil! The scent of the arugula really brings forward that scent from fresh rain falling onto grass! As for flavor? Nothing tastes better than an herbal, fatty, and fresh little surprise on top of your drink.
I used my Ninja Blender to blend about 1/4th Cup of Olive Oil with 2 Large Handfuls of Fresh Arugula.
You will blend these ingredients until smooth, then strain them through a Fine Mesh Strainer to remove all excess arugula pieces.
You will then want to transfer your fresh oil into a Dropper Bottle! This will allow you to delicately place little droplets of oil all along the top of your cocktail. Using unique and flavorful oils on top of cocktails has been one of my new favorite things to do. The smell is amazing and the taste is even better! This is an easy way to truly elevate your cocktail presentation. Try this one out for yourself!
We will be filling this cocktail with Club Soda! This means that after the cocktail is strained over fresh ice, there will be a little room left in the glass to fill. Adding club soda will pull down some of the pure intensity of the spirits and add some fun carbonation! I always like using Q Mixers Club Soda. This soda remains crisp to the very last drop and is very accessible. You can find Q mixers at lots of grocery stores such as Walmart, Target, Safeway, and more!
Bar Supplies:
First piece of equipment you will need for this Pisces cocktail is a Mixing Glass! A mixing glass is what you use to stir a cocktail. You stir a cocktail when the ingredients don’t include any citrus. Stirring the cocktail dilutes it less, results in a silky texture, and keeps the flavors bold and intense. I LOVE stirred cocktails. Some example of commonly stirred cocktails are Negroni’s, Old Fashioned’s, Manhattans, and Martini’s!
A mixing glass is a must have at your home bar! Check out one just like mine RIGHT HERE!
To stir this delicious cocktail you will need a Bar Spoon! A bar spoon is a must have for your home bar! It will help you stir cocktails with ease. As you can see I let the bar spoon rest between my middle and ring finger of my dominant hand. I guide the spoon around in circles with my thumb as the spoon is balanced by my index finger. I always like to have the bottom of the spoon facing outwards towards the glass. This helps me get a smooth rhythm going while I stir! You will be able to pick this up in no time, just remember to let the glass guide you! You can check out a bar spoon just like mine right HERE!
A Jigger is how you will measure the ingredients you are putting into your cocktail! I’m pretty strict on using a jigger. An amazing cocktail will always be balanced, consistent, and beautiful, and you can truly attain that when using a jigger! My jigger in the photo above ranges from 1/4 oz all the way to 2 oz of liquid. Check out one identical to mine right HERE!
If you’re looking for a simplified beginner jigger I have just the one for you. It only has one side, very clear measurement lines, and a little pour spout! I used this when I was just starting out and it really helped me gain confidence behind the bar. I will attach the exact jigger I used to use right HERE!
Since we are using a mixing glass for our cocktail we will need a Julep Strainer! The julep strainer tucks easily into the top of the mixing glass to hold back all of the ice as you pour your cocktail into your glassware. Make sure you have a firm grip on your mixing glass with your thumb as you hover above your delicate glass. If you want a julep strainer just like mine check it out RIGHT HERE!
I also must mention that you will need ICE. Lots of people have fridges with an ice dispenser which is perfect for you to use. Alas, if you do not have accessible fridge ice, AKA ME, you will have to freeze your own! As you can see in the photo above I use a silicone perfect ice cube tray. You can find an identical one that comes with a LID right HERE! I am lucky enough to have a cocktail store near me as well that carries perfect ice in every size but that is not always the most affordable option. I would still suggest you check if any such stores exist near your location! Although a little more pricey, definitely worth it in quality!!!
I do recommend that if you are starting to create multiple cocktails at home, you should invest in your own personal Bartending Kit. Most come with everything you will need as a beginner while others provide several items for more complex creations. I will put links to both a beginners set, and a more advanced set on Amazon below!
