This post is going to show you how to create a White Wine Cocktail!
Warm weather calls for some killer summer time drinks by the poolside.
It turns out Sauvignon Blanc, Tequila, Chambord, and Fresh Citrus are the ultimate recipe for a good time!
This one is an original Sweet Recipe by me! Easy to make and even easier to enjoy. Let’s get right to it!
I call this :
” In my Element ”
What You Will Need
Alcohol:
The base of our white wine cocktail is of course going to be a delicious Sauvignon Blanc! I use a sauvignon blanc from New Zealand. These wines tend to be a little more zesty and grassy, but at the same time they are light and crisp! This brand is called Matua. When I was doing the ordering for my old bar a rep brought this bottle in and I was actually surprised that it had such a light citrus bite. Not only is it tasty and a wonderful base for our white wine cocktail, it’s also SO reasonably priced! I Bought this at Total Wine and More for less than $10.00 !!!
Next we will need to grab ourself a bottle of Blanco Tequila! While I was browsing Total Wine and More, this bottle caught my eye. After speaking with some employees I decided to give it a try and I’m glad that I did! This tequila is smooth and holds the natural flavors of the agave well. I also thought it was really cool that each bottle sold benefits LGBTQ+ charities! It was a fun buy and this is what I will be using to construct this white wine cocktail.
The last alcoholic component we are going to need is the amazing French Liqueur, Chambord. Chambord is a black raspberry liqueur that is bursting with flavor! It is sweet, rich, and you can just taste the quality. This liqueur adds a fun plot twist to the flavor profile of our white wine cocktail. I picked up my bottle at Total Wine and More, but you can also find this at Bevmo, and most select Liquor Stores!
Citrus:
In this white wine cocktail we will be using Fresh Lemon Juice, and Fresh Orange Juice! Once you start using fresh juices in your cocktails you will never ever be able to use anything else! The fresh taste elevates your cocktail and really lets those flavors sing in your drink. The quality is unmatched! In the photo above you can see that I use a hand-pressed stainless steel citrus juicer to juice my fruit. Let me tell you it is seriously the greatest thing I have ever purchased! You can fit in multiple pieces of fruit, squeeze with ease, and it even comes with a pour spout! It’s so precise and makes no mess! I love this thing. Not only is it just awesome, it is also affordable! If you want one just like mine check it out RIGHT HERE on Amazon! Such an amazing addition to the home bar.
Simple Syrup:
I always laugh a little at who ever gave Simple Syrup its name because they were just dead on. IT’S SIMPLE. Get this, the ratio is just 1:1. 1 part White Sugar, to 1 part Hot Water.
You will want to use a pot on the stove. Get your water warm and simmering before you add in your sugar. Once the sugar is in the pot, mix and combine until dissolved. Pull your simple syrup off of the heat once it has that syrup like consistency. You can make as little of it or as much as you want!
I like to store my Syrups and Juices in these little glass bottles with pour spouts! They are the perfect size for a home bar and make for a really clean and professional presentation. Your Simple Syrup should stay good for about a month refridgerated! So if you’re going to be making recipes all month long go ahead and make yourself a larger batch to continuously use! On Amazon they have an amazing set of these glass bottles with spouts and labels. You can check it out RIGHT HERE !
Bar Supplies:
First piece of bar supplies you want to have is a Boston Shaker! The Boston shaker is what I have always used in my bartending experience. I love the shake and the range of dilution that you get! I honestly find it a little easier to shake compared to other alternatives. If you already have a shaker of your own please feel free to use that! If not, you can get one just like mine on Amazon RIGHT HERE!
Next item that we will need is a Bar Jigger! There is nothing like having a consistently good drink that you ALWAYS know is going to hit the spot. This is easily attainable by making sure your measurements are precise and consistent! That’s the type of reliability you get when using a bar jigger! They are a home bar necessity in my opinion. My jigger measures from 1/4 oz all the way up to 2 oz! Check one out just like mine on Amazon RIGHT HERE!
I also want to add that when I first starting bartending I used a more simplified Jigger. It allowed me to practice my pour, see the measurements clearly, and it even had a handy little pour spout. If you are a beginner and want to use the exact same one I did check it out RIGHT HERE on Amazon! It really is so helpful!
To beautifully strain our white wine cocktail we will need a Hawthorne Strainer! This strainer is specifically made for the Boston Shakers. After you shake your cocktail and crack the seal, you will use a hawthorne strainer to stop all of the ice and other miscellaneous contents from entering your glassware with fresh ice! If you want your own for your home bar check them out on Amazon RIGHT HERE!
I also must mention that you will need ICE. Lots of people have fridges with an ice dispenser which is perfect for you to use. Alas, if you do not have accessible fridge Ice, AKA ME, you will have to freeze your own! As you see above I use a silicone perfect ice cube tray. I will link an identical one that comes with a LID right HERE! I am lucky enough to have a cocktail store near me as well that carries perfect ice in every size but that is not always the most affordable option. I would still recommend you check if any such stores exist near your location! Although a little more pricey, definitely worth it in quality!!!
I do recommend that if you are starting to create multiple cocktails at home, you should invest in your own personal little Bartending Kit. Most come with everything you will need as a beginner while others provide several items for more complex creations. I will put links to both a beginners set, and a more advanced set on Amazon below!
